If you are in the early stages of your project and have your characters, worldbuilding, and major plot points planned, Margaret can help break down your project into a full outline to help you jumpstart your writing.
We can read a manuscript in progress without doing a full developmental edit that wouldn’t be appropriate for an early draft. We will assess macro aspects of the story and character.
Coaching sessions can focus on whatever aspects you are struggling with in your writing. Topics for such sessions have included breaking down characters, cast motivation/personalities, plot structure and how your manuscript fits into your desired genre/subgenre, and fleshing out worldbuilding for urban fantasy / paranormal / fantasy genres.
We'll read through your draft with an eye toward strengthening plot, characterization, themes, and worldbuilding. At this stage, your editor will not be looking for grammar problems but instead, will help you make your content the best it can be before you start your final draft and polishing.
Line Editing involves a review line-by-line of a nearly finished product. Your editor will go through your entire piece looking for grammar problems, typos, and inconsistencies in terminology/name spellings. In a line edit, your editor will not question plot structure or characterization.
Proofreading is the end of the line and will only be done for manuscripts that have already been through developmental and line edits. These will check for remaining errors and inconsistencies but won't involve major changes in macro elements or restructuring of syntax, formatting, or grammar.
